Updating your Google My Business (GMB) profile is the fastest way to ensure customers are in the loop on changes to business hours, available products or services, and other timely updates. Make sure your business is correctly listed and easily accessible from Google Maps and organic search results by making the following updates.

1. Update your hours and contact information
We understand the volatility of current conditions means hours can change on a weekly or even daily basis. That being said, if your hours change due to COVID-19 precautions, make sure your new hours of operation are added to your GMB profile as soon as possible. If your showroom is closed, make sure customers are still able to reach you by setting up call forwarding or adding a new phone number to your GMB profile. Google’s review process means these changes may not be published immediately, but on average, you’ll see the updates reflected in search results within a few hours.
2. Edit your business description
Use your company description to let your customers know what your dealership is doing to address the coronavirus outbreak. Any extra steps, safety measures, employee support, or changes in operations should be added. Keep in mind descriptions are limited to 750 characters, so you should prioritize the most pertinent information that customers will be searching for at this time.
3. Increase Google posts
Communication matters, especially during times of uncertainty, and Google Posts are one of the best ways to communicate with customers who are searching for your business in real-time. If you adjusted your business hours, are running limited services, have new incentives to lend assistance, or are shutting down for a few days—this is your place to let customers know. If you’re able, draft a few scenario-based posts that you can quickly push live if circumstances change.
